International dressage rider, singer & songwriter, author and lecturer.

 

Verity Smith is a blind international dressage rider, singer/ songwriter and author. She has competed as a member of team GB in the World Para Dressage Championships and is currently competing and winning at elite top level in able bodied competitions. Now with French nationality her dream is to represent her country in the Olympic Games as a member of the able bodied team . This would make her the first disabled rider to accomplish this.

Her journey and achievements have attracted international media attention e.g CNN International's global sports series "Human to Hero". She is also the creator of the global #Beat the blindfold campaign, which played a fundamental role in changing the Paralympic rule for blind competitors. The video, produced to accompany the campaign has been viewed by over 5 million people in the UK alone.

During her speeches, Verity Smith shares her personal story and touches on a number of themes that motivate and inspire. She invites us to think differently and to orchestrate our talents in order to make the impossible possible. Verity relishes the challenge of changing perceptions and breaking down boundaries.
