Aline Laurent-Mayard

Aline Laurent-Mayard is a journalist and writer specializing in LGBTQIA+ issues. She created the podcast "Free from Desire" in which she discusses her asexuality and solo parenting journey.

Single people are amongst us! You have the asexual and/or aromantic people who chose the single life, the unhappy in love, the divorced ones enjoying their newfound freedom (well sometimes not so happy), and the ones who love to be independent. They have different profiles, but they have something in common: they often find it uncomfortable being single in the workplace.

They can suffer from hurtful comments, and they can feel isolated when everyone else is in a romantic relationship. Childless single people can be tired to be the last to pick their vacation days, and single people with kids can find it exhausting to have tight schedules. Who are single people? What is asexuality and aromanticism? What can be done to make their life easier?

Single parent, journalist and author, Aline has recently made the cover of French magazine Télérama following her podcast Free From Desire in which she studies asexuality, aromanticism, and single life.
