We are all aware that being different is a source of wealth, and that diversity leads to better performance in companies. However, according to the latest studies, anti-LGBTQI+ violence in France has doubled in the past five years. 3 out of 10 people declare having experienced at least one anti-LGBTQIA+ aggression in their workplace. Only 34% of cis heterosexuals report having heard anti-LGBTQIA+ slurs and taunts. In contrast, when LGBTQIA+ people were asked the question, 55% of them had. That is more than a 21-point difference. This shows the difference in sensitivity and perception to offensive comments.

So, how do you deal with it as a non-queer person? And how to deal with it as an affected person? How can we make the intersection of our identities a strength and a performance driver for the company?

This conference will raise awareness on homophobic prejudice and discrimination in the workplace, from an intersectional perspective. It is structured around the following themes:

  • Deconstructing homophobic and transphobic mechanisms in the workplace

  • Becoming a better ally

  • Creating a safe space for LGBTQIA+ people

  • Background on the origin of intersectionality

  • The dual penalty: being BIPOC and being queer

  • At the intersection of discriminations : the inclusion solution
