Playing to overcome gender biases

Playing to overcome gender biases

This workshop uses role-playing to identify different types of gender bias and to work on finding solutions.

Different situations of discrimination due to gender bias (see examples below) are shown on cards and participants take turns to pick a card and present it to the rest of the group.

  • During a meeting you are attending, a female colleague keeps being interrupted.
  • A colleague asks you: "Who's the new girl?
  • Someone complains to you that another member of the team (a young father) wants to take all his paternity leave. He sees this as a sign of lack of commitment to the project.

The other participants then come in to share their feelings and ideas about the situation, and to work together to find the best possible response. After a few scenarios, the recommendations made by the group are summarised in a toolbox and completed by good practices shared by the speaker.

The situations presented and the best practices shared are adapted to the target audience of the workshop (HR, managers or the general public).
