Anastasia Mikova

Anastasia Mikova is a journalist and film-maker whose work has always focused on social and humanist issues.

In this talk, Anastasia Mikova tells the story of a young Ukrainian girl who arrived in France at the age of 17 with lots of dreams and ambitions, but no connections or even friends in France.

She wanted to become a great filmmaker but was often told: it's not for you. Making documentaries? Not for you. Going to the ends of the earth? Not for you. Holding positions of responsibility and becoming a producer? Not for you either.

Yet that's exactly what she did, first as an investigative journalist, then alongside photographer and filmmaker Yann Arthus-Bertrand, and finally on her own, joining the 20% of women director-producers and setting up her production company KVITKA (flower in Ukrainian).

Today, she makes powerful, large-scale documentaries, but also works with companies that want to take their social commitment a step further. Everything that was "not really for her" has become her reality.

In this talk, Anastasia shares her personal and professional experiences so that others can believe too.
