Alicia Birr - Diveristy & inclusion conference

Alicia Birr

Founder of re-wor-l-ding, inclusive communication trainer and consultant, inclusive leadership coach.

Every day, we write dozens of emails, texts, and presentations. Forty years of scientific research has shown that the words we use shape our view of the world and how we act in it, especially when it comes to gender equality and the male-as-default bias in the grammatically gendered languages (like French, Spanish or German).

Inclusive language is a set of techniques that we can use to represent and include everyone in our written and spoken language. It is a powerful tool that is accessible to everyone and free.

This conference will help you understand why inclusive language is important, how you can use it, and how to develop a critical eye for everyday language to take concrete action against discrimination. Sixty minutes to demystify inclusive language and form your own opinion!

Alicia Birr began her career in the creative industries, but later specialized in digital transformation consulting. She has worked for almost 10 years at Google France as head of consumer insights, where she studied and analyzed the consumption habits of users. She has been a LGBTQIA+ activist since her time at Sciences Po and she continued her feminist commitment through mentoring young girls and women. In 2021 she launched re·wor·l·ding, a project dedicated to deconstructing language and rebuilding a world that is more just and diverse. The mission is to encourage people to critically examine everyday language and to use precise and inclusive language.
